Interests

Chess, Caged Birds and and Aviation top the list. Computers used to as well; but I got disillusioned.

Favorite Music

 Anything 80's (almost). Top 5 favorite artists: The Eagles, Bob Seger, Meat Loaf, Dire Straits, Roxette and Tina Turner.

I love Classical and Celtic!

 Favorite Author

Got burned out on reading a long time ago, but I still enjoy Stephen King. Mr. King takes me into the mind of the bad guy; so when the villain gets his just deserts, I feel for him or her, regardless of how dispicable and evil they are!

 Favorite Movies

Too many to mention, so let's go with genre: I love a good thriller or a good Sci Fi. Among the thrillers, I prefer the psychological thriller; i.e. The Hand That Rocks The CradleSingle White Female, Internal Affairs. Action/Adventure is cool and many of these newer Superhero movies are great! I typically dislike comedies, but I do like: Life of Brian, Airplane!, Caveman, Young Frankenstein.

Favorite Stars

Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Connery.

There's nothing more boring or dangerous than a fanatic -- of any pursuasion.
[Bo Lozoff]

If you don't understand that you work for your mislabeled 'subordinates', then you know nothing of leadership. You know only tyranny.
[Dee Hock, Founder/CEO VISA International]

With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.
[Jonathan Frakes]

So this is how liberty dies; with thunderous applause.
[George Lucas]

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security will lose both.
[Benjamin Franklin]

If you are heard, then speak. If not, then stop.
[Chuang-Tzu]

If a battle can't be won, don't fight it.
[Sun-Tzu]

I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this. From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment. I don't know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars and planets, has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live on this earth face the task of making a happy life for ourselves. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.
[Dali Lama]

There's nothing more complicated than perception.
[Rick Berman]

When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.
[Thomas Jefferson]

    When the Nazis came for the communists,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a communist.

    When they locked up the social democrats,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a social democrat.

    When they came for the trade unionists,
    I did not speak out;
    I was not a trade unionist.

    When they came for the Jews,
    I remained silent;
    I wasn't a Jew.

    When they came for me,
    there was no one left to speak out.
[Martin Niemöller]

In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter-bitter,", he answered.
"But I like it because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."
[Stephen Crane]

If you best an idiot, what have you accomplished?
[Thomas C. Adams]

A man convinced against his will,
Is of the same opinion still.
[Thomas C. Adams]

"Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil."
[Jerry Garcia]

But that step from knowing you've been lied to, to believing that everything else is a lie is a big step. Once you're forced to hypothesize whole new technologies to keep your conspiracy possible, you've stepped over into the realm of magic. It demands a deep and abiding faith in things you can never know. It's like you must cling to your belief system with all your might against the overwhelming evidence of your rational mind, and some people do. What's dangerous about that is that it blinds you to the real conspiracies that the authorities are perpetrating against you right now; as we speak. Things that are a lot more important than whether some guys went to the moon. ...... I'm not America, but if I were, I'd much rather have you be questioning Apollo 11  and not questioning 'The Patriot Act', 'The Iraq War','The Financial Industy Bill' and 'right to indefinite military intention without charge'. Those things are real.
[S.G. Collins]

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
[Steven Weinberg]

To not believe in God is to know that it falls on us to make the world a better place.
[Richard Dawkins]

If this is your God, he's not very impressive. He's got so many psychological problems; he's so insecure. He demands worship every seven days. He goes out and creates faulty humans and then blames them for his own mistakes. He's a pretty poor excuse for a supreme being.
[Gene Roddenberry]
