Dundee City

Dundee City started as one team formed in 2005 to compete in the Scottish National Chess League SNCL). It now comprises several otb and online teams composed of players drawn from Dundee Chess Club and Castlehill Chess Club. Several Dundee City players have also participated with Alba in the 4 Nations Chess League 4NCL) and there is a substantial (8 team!) Dundee City presence in 4 NCL Online with the A team topping Division 1 in Season 7 and the B team reaching the semi-finals in their inaugural Division 1 season. Dundee City A headed Division 1 of the SNCL pre-pandemic and regained this title in the 2022-2023 season as well as making the playoffs of World Chess League Live (WCL.L). Most recently, Dundee City stalwart, Ed Spencer, became the 2023 Scottish chess champion
